The Management
Lorne Gettel -
President and CEO
Lorne Gettel holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of British Columbia, and has twenty-five years experience in the fields of clean energy technologies and alternate fuels, including the development and commercialization of low and ultra-low emission alternate fuel vehicles. He has extensive experience in all technical issues related to the use of compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, and hydrogen as engine and vehicle fuels. He has worked with many of the major manufacturers in the clean energy field, and with major vehicle manufacturers, including: Caterpillar, Cummins, Waukesha, Navistar, Perkins, Saab-Scania, Hino, Hyundai, Ford, MAN, Ballard Power Systems, and SAIC.
Sandy Constable -
Vice-President, Business Development
Sandy Constable is a resource economist with over thirty years of experience in transportation issues, alternative transportation fuels, and vehicle emissions reduction. He is also experienced in technology assessment and technology development. From 1988 to 1991 he was Vice President of Finance and Marketing for a small R&D company seeking to commercialize on-site natural gas liquefiers to fuel commercial transport vehicles. In addition, from 2001 to 2003, he managed the energy and environmental planning for a biomass power generation project. He has a strong interest in greenhouse gas reduction, and sees the introduction of lithium ion battery technology to the transportation industry as a viable means to that end. He holds a B.A.Sc (Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, an M.A. Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and an M.Sc Economics from Simon Fraser University.
Bill Coote -
Vice-President, Operations
Bill Coote studied Industrial Engineering at both the University of Wales and the University of Toronto. Over the past three decades, he has been involved in both very large and small companies in a wide variety of industries, including electrical power generation, petrochemicals, oil and gas exploration/production/transportation, electronics, biotechnology, and water treatment. He has significant experience in high technology product development, project management, quality assurance, information technology application, and supply chain management.
Piotr Drozdz -
Vice-President, Engineering
Piotr holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Warsaw Technical University, and since 1983 his field of expertise has been in hybrid vehicle powertrain design and integration. In 1990 he joined Ortech Corporation in Mississauga, Ontario as a structural analyst. From 1992-94 he was a lead investigator in an Ortech conceptual study of hybrid powertrains for Orion Transit Bus, in which he developed a novel approach to hybrid powertrain simulation that has become the standard analysis tool throughout the industry. In 1995 he joined BC Research in Vancouver, leading its hybrid electric development program. In 2000, he co-founded the BC Research spinoff company Azure Dynamics, managing its hybrid delivery van powertrain development. Since 2003, he has consulted on clean power technologies with government, academic and industrial organizations involved in advanced technology development. He is the leading inventor of two US patents related to hybrid vehicle energy management, and has extensive experience in structural analysis and testing, as well as dynamic system modeling and simulation, particularly for automotive products.
