ALP’s next generation battery packs include a Battery Control Module (BCM) compatible with automotive industry standards.
The BCM controls the Cell Protection System, provides pack-level control functions, and communicates with the vehicle control system to provide information about battery status and to execute the vehicle’s control commands.
The pack level functions include pack current and voltage measurement, state of charge calculation, charge and discharge limit calculations, thermal management system control and safety systems control. Communication between the modules, the BCM, and the vehicle is over a CAN data bus. Up to three CAN channels can be provided.
